Theodore Roosevelt, the 26th President of the United States who was in office from 1901 to 1909.
Theodore Roosevelt. The Rough Rider. Another military hero, who did a fantastic job as the President. Roosevelt is one of the ones on this list who could easily be bumped into the top 5 or maybe even the top 3 depending on how I feel about his actions as the President. And anybody who makes the cut onto Mount Rushmore with Washington, Jefferson and Lincoln probably deserves to be on this list of my favorite Presidents.
First off, T-Roose busted trusts. He brooke up major companies that were getting to large. He even busted up the largest Railroad company and Standard Oil. Two of the largest companies in the US at the time.
He also passed the Hepburn Act in 1906, which allowed the government to regulate the Railroad and railroad prices. In addition to the Hepburn Act, he passed the Pure Food and Drug Act, which allowed the Government to go in and inspect food companies and make sure they were intact selling beef instead of ground up human pieces. Thats kind of a big deal….cause today instead of hamburger it could be human burger……Gettin all Silence of the Lambs up in this post….
And my favorite thing Teddy did. He was a conservationist. He loved the outdoors, like yours truly. The Antiquities Act established 18 new National Monuments. He established 51 bird reserves. Woah. 4 Game Preserves and a huge number coming up, 150 National Forests.
Of all of his accomplishments during his Presidency, These are some of his best and are the main reasons why he is on this list. Keep in mind that all of these presidents did more than I am listing in these posts.
